In this talk, Dr. Seltzer will draw on elements of her co-authored book, The Translanguaging Classroom: Leveraging Student Bilingualism for Learning, as well as her own research in English-medium classrooms, to describe both the practical, strategic purposes of translanguaging as well as its transformative potential. This talk will describe how empowered multilingual classrooms can take up translanguaging in ways that are both pedagogically sound and oriented toward criticality and transformation.
