In this workshop, participants will explore key research on teaching phonics to EAL learners compared to native English speakers. We will discuss the unique challenges EAL students face in phonics instruction and review practical strategies to adapt phonics programs effectively for multilingual classrooms. Using examples from my own school's adapted phonics program, attendees will gain actionable insights and tools to enhance phonics teaching, ensuring all students build a strong foundation in English literacy, regardless of their language background.
