As EAL teachers, we celebrate collaborative learning. Research has supported our understanding of its benefits for student engagement, critical thinking, and social skills development. In this session, a Socratic Seminar will be studied as a tool to foster student driven outcomes which are supported by teacher led practices. The classroom evidence will contextualise collaborative teaching and learning by examining the teacher’s role in empowering student learning and the use of translanguaging pedagogy to support students in making their voices heard.
