This presentation will briefly review the importance of identity in the classroom and the role of language in identity formation with a focus on Lev Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory Of Cognitive Development, connecting it to learning, collaboration and translanguaging. There will be discussion between participants to gain insight about practices in schools to value students' identities. Please come prepared to share your current practices to inspire others.
